OK...Alright 04:57
Who does see the twisted shadows fall Encapturing minds Who hears the youth call from my Block niggers to suburban kids I know this world weighs heavy On your low set lids This is for dark nights and sharp blades For mountains of pain and your tear stained face This is for every time they beat you every time they lied Every time you suffered and every time you cried This is for broken dreams shadowed with precision Misunderstood visions, lives christened, imprisoned Dismiss them You were never meant to understand Tag on every wall and kiss the sky when you can For information work them They’ll trace the outline of your soul when you desert them Cause they don’t know the trouble that you’ve seen And who cares tonight Life is but a dream It’s gonna be ok Alright Free your mind If only for the night Gonna be ok Alright You don’t have to cry tonight Best to free your mind, ‘fore they bleed you like the rest With guns and daggers it’s a slow silent death While breathlessly await for the world to fall It’s not gonna happen and you hemmed against the walls of your Own design they cross all space and time Who caused the vision who drew the line Findin’ it hard to breath Got bruises on the knees from prayin’ to leave, please Conceiving ways to escape the venom The biggest fight is for your life is for your next gen, defend ‘em The rules, bend them cause they gon keep pretendin’ Every breath you take is worthless all endings no beginnings, bells ringing No need to read braille, you shall prevail Ok Alright Free your mind If only for the night Gonna be ok Alright You don’t have to fight tonight You shall prevail Cuts for luck and Scars for freedom They will never feel your pain So you’ll defeat them World in your eyes Ready to fly You must make it through the next day Defeat them Feeling used and abused quite confused It’s really all about you and the way you wanna move Those chains that seem to bind you Let me remind you The power’s in the people Every moment’s perfect timing You visualize death Now visualize your life You looked into the dark Now look into the light Cause they don’t know the trouble that you’ve seen And who cares tonight Life is but a dream It’s gonna be ok Alright Free your mind If only for the night Gonna be ok Alright Let your light shine tonight You shall prevail Written by: M. about

thatgirlmystic.bandcamp.com

“OK...Alright” produced by The Angel, is the first solo recording by Bay Area emcee and Grammy Nominee, Mystic. Mystic rhymes and sings on her songs, infusing them with passion, beauty and consciousness.

First making her mark in the Bay Area, Mystic’s work brought her to the attention of many influential DJs, one of whom introduced her to Los Angeles based, female producer The Angel.

This connection led to The Angel asking Mystic to write a spoken word piece and vocal her remix of Donald Byrd’s “Kofi‚“ for the Blue Note Remix album, “The New Groove“ (1996). This remix was featured to great effect in the Tupac Shakur, Tim Roth film‚ “Gridlock’d‚“ scored by The Angel.

When Tripek Records were looking for a track by The Angel for the compilation, “Rules Of The Game,“ Angel suggested producing a track for Mystic instead. Together they wrote “OK...Alright‚“ as the first track released by Mystic in her own right.

The Angel’s introduction of Mystic to GoodVibe Recordings led to the recording of Mystic’s debut album, “Cuts for Luck and Scars for Freedom‚“ the title of which comes from the lyrics of "OK... Alright," in 2001. That year Mystic also guested on the album‚“No Gravity‚“ by The Angel.

Mystic’s songs have been featured on numerous compilation albums and the TV shows‚“Dark Angel‚“ and “Six Feet Under.“ Her work guesting with The Angel has also been featured in the films ‚“Boiler Room‚“ on the soundtrack album to “All About The Benjamins‚“ and in the TV shows “The Twilight Zone,“ “24‚“ and “Platinum.“ Numerous collaborations with The Angel are showcased on the compilation album “Supa Crucial Downtempo Remixes & Rarities,” including a remix of “OK...Alright,” by Headset.
